Former NFF president Ibrahim Galadima has maintained that Nigeria will not record any financial benefits hosting the 2020 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria is vying to stage the 2020 U20 Women’s World Cup even though world football governing body FIFA have yet to give an update on this.
Previously the country has hosted the U20 World Cup in 1999 and the U17 World Cup in 2009.
“We should try to educate Nigerians and the government that we do not have so much to gain economically hosting such a tournament,” Galadima said.
The experienced football administrator also said Nigeria may not have enough time to be ready to welcome the rest of the world next year.
“If by now we have not got the right (to host), I don’t know how much time we have to prepare,” he argued.
Galadima has again raised serious concerns about the state of Nigeria football.
“Nigeria football is at a standstill,” he said.
“The league is not running and even when it was, there were so many stories around the non-payment of indemnities and our clubs are not doing well in continental competitions.”
