Whistleblowers of the unbridled corruption at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have alleged a plot to assassinate them on the orders of top officials who have been mentioned in their expose.
The whistleblowers are NFF director of protocol Oyetunde Aderibigbe, players’ union boss Harrison Jalla, former NFF technical director James Peters and former international Emmanuel Babayaro.
“We have uncovered this evil plot and the relevant authorities have been informed accordingly,” Aderibigbe disclosed.
“This is not someone’s imagination, it’s real.
“We should not forget that there is still an unresolved murder of a top official of the NFF in Abuja.
“And now again, they have become more daring and desperate because they know the end is very near.
“But whatever their machinations, they cannot scare us from exposing the crimes and evil they have perpetrated in the guise of running football in Nigeria.”
Jalla said he has been marked for dead after he refused to withdraw petitions and court cases that have exposed the rut at the NFF.
“I understand my offence is my refusal to withdraw and drop the complaints I instituted in my official capacity as president of the National Association of Nigeria Footballers (NANF) to recover many billions of Naira and millions of United States Dollars allegedly stolen from our football treasury.
“I indeed instituted and lodged complaints with the EFCC, ICPC, and FIFA. Since then I have been approached and pressured by prominent Nigerians at the instance of one of the top officials from the same ethic nationality with me to withdraw and drop my complaints, some of these pressures came with subtle threats.
“Further information at my disposal is that hired assassins have been allegedly paid to track and eliminate me in a manner that will look like an armed robbery attack.
“I have received strange calls recently and have noticed unusual movements by some strange and unknown faces around the gate of my house.”
He continued: “Even though I am unruffled with these developments, I have already briefed my lawyers to incident my observation with the office of the Inspector General of Police and all the relevant authorities.”
It would also be recalled that founder of Human Rights Radio Abuja and Brekete Family, Ahmed Isah ‘Ordinary President’ recently revealed that he has it on good authority that 10 million Naira has been placed on the head of each of the whistleblowers to be killed.
Further checks revealed that a Special Assistant to one of the accused senior officials is known to be the brain behind a “killer squad”.
