The NFF plan for Eric Chelle to continue as Super Eagles coach and so have proposed a new and improved contract to him.
According to The Punch, the NFF are ready to double his monthly salary to $100,000.
This is lower than the $130,000 the coach demanded through his representatives.
He demanded for a hefty rise as he has to continue to pay the salaries of his hand-picked assistants.
The 48-year-old coach has a contract until January 2027 with an option for an additional year.
However, he has thus far failed to meet the two targets his employers set for him in his first year in charge of the national team – qualify for the 2026 World Cup and reach the final of the 2025 AFCON.
He has also been linked with various jobs in Africa and Europe since he led the Super Eagles to finish third at the recent AFCON in Morocco.
