The NFF will again name Portuguese Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles coach despite the insistence of the government through the sports ministry that more qualified coaches be considered for the top post.
Peseiro was a controversial choice when he was first announced by the NFF to take over the Eagles after the delayed AFCON in Cameroon earlier this year.
He eventually did not take up the job after Augustine Eguavoen’s temporary appointment was extended to cover the ill-fated 2022 World Cup playoffs against the Black Stars of Ghana.
The likes of Laurent Blanc and Philippe Cocu have also been linked to take charge of the three-time champions.
The immediate task of the new Super Eagles coach will be the friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador in the USA, before 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe next month.
