Officials have told SCORENigeria that the leadership of the NFF that insisted on the appointments of Manu Garba and Aliyu Zubairu as coaches of the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles are “disappointed” they failed to deliver.
Manu Garba for the second straight year failed to qualify five-time world champions Nigeria to the U17 AFCON, while Aliyu Zubairu could only get the Flying Eagles to the knockout rounds of the U20 World Cup despite his boast to win the competition.
“The NFF leadership is really disappointed with both Manu and the Flying Eagles coach (Aliyu Zubairu), they failed to meet their targets,” a source informed SCORENigeria
“One of the ogas was particularly unhappy with the performance of the Golden Eaglets, which means that for the second year running and under the same man, Nigeria will not be at the U17 AFCON.”
This past week, the NFF technical committee recommended that both coaches be sent packing and even their respective backroom staff be revamped following “some very concerning unprofessional conduct”.
