The NFF have lashed back at Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby for demanding for more foreign assistants after they finally admitted they have received his resignation letter amid rife speculations.
Dennerby, who still had a year left on his contract, led Nigeria to the Round of 16 at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup after he led them to a record-extending Africa Women’s championship triumph in Ghana last year.
He has alleged he did not receive enough support to do his work and that there were several breaches of his contract including unpaid wages.
However, the NFF have dismissed these claims.
“We want to put it on record that no head coach in the history of the Super Falcons (Nigeria women’s team) has been afforded the level and readiness of support that has been provided Mr. Dennerby by this Board,” the FA maintained.
The NFF said the Swedish coach may well have walked out on the team after his request to hire more expatriate assistants was not granted.
Executive committee member Ibrahim Guasau disclosed that the country will shop for a replacement for Dennerby after Chris Danjuma was appointed in an interim capacity.
