The NFF have maintained that world football governing body FIFA are yet to rule on a petition against DR Congo for fielding ineligible players for a 2026 World Cup Playoffs tie against the Super Eagles.
This is contrary to recent media reports that the petition has been dismissed.
“I have not seen any letter from FIFA that our petition has been thrown out,” said NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi.
“I therefore don’t know where the story is coming from (that FIFA dismissed petition).”
The NFF have asked FIFA to throw out DR Congo from the 2026 World Cup after they paraded several ineligible players when they stopped the Super Eagles 4-3 on penalties after both teams played out a 1-1 draw after extra time in a final playoff game in Rabat, Morocco, last month.
