The NFF congress, the highest decision-making body in charge of Nigerian football, has endorsed the on-going reform of Nigerian football.
This followed the resignation of the NFF executive committee led by Ibrahim Gusau on account of a spate of poor results at major international tournaments.
In a media statement after a meeting at the Reno Hotel in Abuja, the congress said that all members support and align with the reforms, while appreciating President Bola Tinubu for his unprecedented support and funding for Nigerian football.
The congress agreed Nigerian football requires “urgent reform and a hard reset” to improve governance, transparency, accountability, stakeholder representation, domestic competitions and overall development.
After the congress meeting, a delegation met with NSC chairman, Shehu Dikko, who briefed them on the reform agenda for Nigerian football.
In the new week, officials from FIFA and CAF will meet with NSC in Abuja to chart the way forward for Nigerian football.
