Coach Eric Chelle is expected to name two different squads for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers as well as that for the friendly against Russia.
It is understood that the Super Eagles coach, who also now doubles as head coach of the U23s, will use the Russia friendly to run the rule on mainly U23 players as the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will also begin next month.
That means that the squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea Bissau will be largely different from the squad for the friendly against Russia on October 6.
Some of the players linked with the U23s include Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Adesina Ayodele, Christian Nwachukwu, Tochukwu Nnadi and Akpe Victory.
