Wilfred Ndidi is the latest key player battling injury ahead of the Super Eagles World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan, Zaidu Sanusi from FC Porto and Semi Ajayi, who plays for West Bromwich Albion, are already major injury doubts for the World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles welcome Lesotho to Uyo on November 16, before they fly out to Rwanda to face Zimbabwe in another World Cup qualifier four days later.
Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca said Ndidi is nursing a muscular injury that kept him out from midweek win over Sunderland and will do so for some time.
“The only one is Wilf (Ndidi),” Maresca disclosed. “That looks a bit more than tiredness as we thought at the beginning, so he probably has to stay out some days or weeks.
“It’s not an important problem, just a muscular problem that we thought was not important. It’s not big, but I think at least for some days or weeks he going to be out.”
Ndidi captained the Super Eagles in this month’s friendlies in Portugal against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
