Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed he cannot stop Victor Osimhen quitting his club in the summer because there is a release clause on the new contract the striker signed recently.
This declaration finally puts to rest speculations whether or not there’s now a fixed price on Osimhen should he want to quit Napoli.
Various reports have already suggested the release clause is around 130 Million Euros, almost double the fee Napoli splashed to buy the striker from Ligue 1 club Lille four years ago.
“I can confirm there’s a release clause, very high one,” the Napoli boss disclosed.
He also admitted it will always be difficult for Napoli to hold on to their best players from some of Europe’s richest clubs.
“Some players stay for many years, others are wanted by PSG, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea…,” he explained.
“It’s difficult to keep players when they are wanted by rich clubs”.
