Napoli coach Rudi Garcia has said he wants Victor Osimhen to be happy and believes once his contract extension is official the star striker can fully focus on scoring goals.
Last season, Osimhen netted 26 goals to help Napoli win the Scudetto since 1990.
Speculations have been rife over the future of the Super Eagles striker as a result of this.
However, an official announcement of a new Napoli contract to tie down Osimhen till June 2026 will cool off these speculations.
Rudi Garcia will now be in charge of Napoli after Luciano Spalletti stepped down and he is looking forward to a focused Osimhen when the new Serie A season kicks off this weekend.
“I want Osimhen to be happy, he and the club have done a good job,” he said.
“When (the extension) is official, he will only focus on the pitch and that’s what I like the most.”
Various reports have already suggested the new contract will make Osimhen the highest paid player in Napoli history with an annual salary of 10 Million Euros.
His buy-out clause will be 150 Million Euros, which will be effective from next summer.
