The Super Eagles do not seek to avenge a semifinal loss they suffered at the 2019 AFCON at the hands of Algeria, they simply wish to beat the North Africans tomorrow to advance to the semifinal of the 2025 AFCON.
This is according to Moses Simon, one of eight players on the Super Eagles squad in Egypt in 2019 who are also in Morocco for tomorrow’s epic clash.
It needed a stoppage time free kick goal by Ryad Mahrez for Algeria to stop Nigeria seven years ago on their way to claiming their second AFCON crown.
“That (2-1 defeat against Algeria in 2019 AFCON) is in the past,” insisted the flying Paris FC winger.
“We want to win tomorrow, not just trying to win and we hope we can do so.”
Both teams have won their first four matches in Morocco and so one of them will lose this enviable winning run when they battle for the right to reach the semifinal of the 2025 AFCON.
