Gilberto Mora has made history as the youngest ever goal scorer for Mexico.
At this summer’s World Cup, midfielder Mora set a record when he came on for Mexico in the opening match against South Africa. At 17 years and 240 days old, Mora became Mexico’s youngest ever World Cup player.
When the offensive talent then gained confidence against Ecuador in the round of 16, Mora became the second youngest player to ever start a World Cup knockout match, only beaten by Pelé’s performances in 1958.
When Mexico played a friendly against Colombia Sunday night, Mora checked off a new milestone. The 17-year-old scored, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Mexican national team.
Mora plays for local club Tijuana, but has been rumored to be moving to various big clubs in Europe, including Spanish giants Barcelona and Madrid as well as Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League.
