It is most likely Terem Moffi will make another big-money transfer on the back of his 14 goals in Ligue 1 this season, but before then he had undergone trials at Belgian club Royal Excel Mouscron, but was not given a contract.
Moffi trained at Mouscron for some days, but in the end he was not given a contract.
He will head back to his base in Lithuania after this episode before another Belgian club, KV Kortrijk, took a gamble and paid out 150,000 Euros for him.
The rest they say is now history – he banged in five goals in about a dozen games for Ligue 1 club FC Lorient to splash a record fee of eight million Euros last summer for him.
For the coming summer, the French club could be smiling to the bank with probably triple what they paid for him.
Last month, Mouscron were relegated from the Belgian top league.
Leo Moffi has spoken to SCORENigeria about the great self-belief of his son soon after the disappointment of not signing for Mouscron in 2019.
“Terem was not bothered they did not give him a deal,” the former Enugu Rangers goalkeeper revealed.
“Instead, he genuinely felt they had passed on a chance to sign a good player.
“He just told me, ‘Na dem lose’ (pidgin saying Mouscron will be the biggest losers).”
Besides pocketing a record eight million Euros for the young striker last year, Kortrijk also have 20% from Moffi’s next transfer.
SCORENigeria has already reported that German Bundesliga top guns Borussia Dortmund have a firm offer for Moffi with sources indicating Lorient will be forced to sell for almost thrice what they bought him from Belgium.
