Terem Moffi is now in top contention for the best African player award in the French Ligue 1 after he failed to win it two years ago because at that time he was not capped by the Super Eagles.
The 23-year-old striker was outstanding on his debut season with FC Lorient in the 2020/2021 season after he netted 15 goals in all competitions.
However, he was not nominated for the Marc Vivien Foe Award because then he had not played for the Super Eagles.
This season, Moffi has scored 16 goals and made two assists in Ligue 1 as well as scored thrice in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
His acrobatic overhead kick against FC Basel last week was named Goal of the Week in the Conference League and even won pride of place on the cover of the influential L’Equipe newspaper.
He faces a stiff competition from PSG defender Achraf Hakimi, who enjoyed success with Morocco at last year’s World Cup in Qatar.
The winner of the award will be announced on May 30.
