Ex-Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was sacked by Kuwait SC because he stopped being competitive, according to a top journalist.
Kuwait SC announced that they have terminated the contract of Mikel.
They did not give any reasons for this decision.
However, a Kuwait-based journalist Bader Almeraabi said the former Chelsea star failed to live up to expectations.
“Mikel’s performance was not good and he could not run, was not mobile and was playing like a tourist, that was the reason his contract was cancelled,” the journalist told totorinews.com
“His physical condition was very bad. He was walking on the pitch, instead of running like his other teammates, too bad.
“The club discovered later that he lacked strong physical condition for a professional footballer.”
