Former Nigeria skipper Mikel Obi has started training with his new club Trabzonspor, but not with the rest of the squad.
The former Chelsea midfielder is training separately because he just resumed following a break after he played at AFCON 2019 in Egypt, where he led Nigeria to win Bronze medal.
Obi, who was welcomed at the airport by a crowd of Trabzonspor fans who sang his name, passed his routine medical.
Mikel quit international football after the AFCON so as to focus on his club career.
He will play in Turkey alongside his compatriot and childhood friend Ogenyi Onazi, who facilitated the transfer.
