Ex-Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has restated his wish for Victor Osimhen to choose his former club Chelsea ahead of other top European clubs like PSG and Manchester United.
Mikel played for over a decade for London club Chelsea during which time he won major honours like the UEFA Champions League as well as the Premier League.
He has now said that both Chelsea and Osimhen want the transfer to go through in the summer and he himself has been urging the player to move to Stamford Bridge.
However, he also admitted that the Napoli striker is also coveted by other top clubs like Manchester United and PSG.
“I think there’s genuine interest between both (Chelsea and Osimhen),” Mikel said at a web summit in Qatar.
“I think he loves the club, he wants to come to the club, obviously he wants to follow in my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea, like Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, there’s not a lot of us.
“But he also has a lot of interest, like PSG, Man United, but I’m still pushing, sending him messages, trying to make sure he doesn’t expect too much, just narrow your mind on one club: The Blues!”
Reports have suggested Chelsea are already talking with Osimhem’s agents over his personal terms and their scouts were at the Serie A game at Sassuolo, where the 25-year-old striker fired his second hat-trick in Italy.
