Highly-rated Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Jorthy Mokio has been granted permission to change international allegiance from Belgium to DR Congo, but he will not feature at the forthcoming World Cup because of a FIFA regulation.
A FIFA regulation stated that any player who has made a senior international appearance for one nation cannot represent another for a period of three years.
This means Mokio will now have to wait another two years before he can feature for DRC.
The 18-year-old midfield star played for two minutes for Belgium in a friendly against Ukraine last March in a UEFA Nations League tie.
