Coach Manu Garba has vowed the Golden Eaglets will beat Burkina Faso in a WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifier today to get their title defence off to a winning start.
Nigeria get their qualifying campaign underway by 4pm at the University Stadium in Legon, Accra, against the team they beat to win the sub-regional championship two years ago.
“We have the confidence we will beat Burkina Faso,” the experienced Golden Eaglets coach declared.
“We’re hopeful of the maximum points today.”
The Eaglets will be led by attacking midfielder Cletus Simon from Mavlon FC, who featured at the U17 AFCON in Algeria last year.
The team’s strike force will be led by Central Academy striker Abdulmuiz Adeleke with support from exciting left winger Ibrahim Abdulganiyu.
Manu said the main target is qualification to the U17 AFCON.
“We hope to win all our matches so to qualify for the U17 AFCON,” he said.
“We will take it a game at a time.”
