Francis Uzoho has been variously picked as the Super Eagles No 1 goalkeeper after a Man-of-the-Match display against Ghana in Kumasi.
The Cyprus-based goalkeeper kept a clean sheet after he pulled off at least two top-class saves for Nigeria to come away from Ghana with a scoreless draw Friday night.
He was in only goal in Kumasi after No 1 choice Maduka Okoye was unavailable due to illness.
Former international goalkeeper Idah Peterside remarked that Uzoho is undoubted Nigeria’s No 1 shot stopper.
“I have said over and over again that Uzoho is now Nigeria’s best goalkeeper, people that think they know more, thought otherwise,” Peterside said.
“Wetin Uzoho take pass Okoye reach from Abuja to Daura but we are not ready for this conversation simply because of grace,” added football writer Fisayo Dairo.
Melvin Bike said: “Please I have a question, so if Uzoho impresses in Abuja and Nigeria qualify for the World Cup and then Maduka will take the No 1 spot because he plays for Watford?
“Even after running away from the Ghana match?
“Just look at how he dashed Uzoho number one spot.”
Former Golden Eaglets goalkeeper Uzoho was top choice at the 2018 World Cup in Russia but subsequently lost his place to Okoye when he suffered a long-term injury in a friendly against Brazil.
