Genk are struggling in the Belgian league and have knocked out of the cup, but they are riding high in the UEFA Europa League and goalkeeper Tobias Lawal have given reasons for this.
With 13 points from seven matches, Genk are guaranteed a place in the knockout rounds of the competition today.
They could even reach the Top 8 of the Europa League with a home win over Malmo of Sweden tonight.
“The sooner a new match approaches, the easier it is to put a disappointment behind you. We were very close to a second clean sheet in a row, barely conceding anything. We can draw confidence from that,” the goalkeeper told Het Belang van Limburg.
“That comes down to confidence. In Europe, we’re putting together a strong run, which takes away the pressure from our position in the Belgian league standings.”
