Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has sprung a number of surprises after he named a formidable provisional squad for the U20 AFCON in Egypt next month.
Team spokesman Sharif Abdallah told SCORENigeria that “the final squad list will be made public any time from now”.
However, it was scooped that several foreign-based pros like highly-rated Crystal Palace striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi and Glasgow Rangers winger Thompson Ishaka did not make the final cut.
Exciting central defender Benjamin Federick from the Moses Simon Academy could also miss out despite the remarkable progress he has made since he was a standby player at the U20 AFCON qualifiers.
Bosso has picked three goalkeepers, namely Nathaniel Nwosu, Chijoke Anigboso and Saheed Akanbi, who were all at the U20 AFCON qualifiers in May 2022 in Niger Republic.
Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, Augustine Njoku, Daniel Daga, Onuche Ogbelu and Haliru Sarki survived a major purge after they all featured in the qualifiers.
Twenty five players will make the trip to Morocco before Bosso submits a final 21-man squad to CAF on February 9.
