Valencia hosts Real Madrid at the Estadio Mestalla in a match from the 27th round of the Spanish La Liga. It seems like a terrific game to follow so let’s preview it in our best free football tips for today.
How are Valencia doing this season? Well, better than the previous one! Los Che barely survived the 2022/23 campaign, but now they are in the middle of the table with 36 points. Their record so far shows 10 wins, 6 draws and 9 losses – it’s a pretty balanced performance one could say.
Last week Ruben Baraja’s team made its 6th draw for the season. Valencia faced Sevilla at home, but the match ended with no goals scored – 0-0. Both teams had some opportunities to score, but the fans saw no goals at the Mestalla. It was still a good game and Valencia got a point against an opposition of some quality.
Most likely Baraja won’t make tons of changes against Real Madrid – he doesn’t have a reason to. Players like Hugo Guillamon and Pepelu will have to deal with Madrid’s dynamic midfield while Hugo Duro remains the team’s top scorer since the beginning of the season. So far Duro has scored 10 league goals which is a pretty good achievement.
Playing in a 4-4-2 formation, Valencia will try to hurt Real Madrid from the wings. This means that players like Sergi Canos and Fran Perez will have to do some damage while Jose Gaya and Dimitri Foulquier are supporting them from behind. Although Los Che are underdogs against the current leader in La Liga, Valencia are an interesting team which could eventually cause an upset here.
Real Madrid are leaders in La Liga’s standings with 65 points – this puts them 6 points ahead of the second Girona. Most pundits now believe that nobody could really stop Madrid from winning the title. But the job is still not done – they have work to do.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team still have just one defeat since the start of the campaign. One loss in 26 games played – this explains why Real Madrid are leaders in the table. They are very solid this season despite having so many injured players. Carlo Ancelotti deserves credit for the way he’s preparing his team for the challenges ahead.
In their last match Real Madrid faced Sevilla at home and needed a late goal to clinch a 1-0 victory. It was the veteran Luka Modric who scored the winner in the 81st minute of the match. For the Croatian midfield maestro it was his second game for the campaign.
It’s still not clear if Jude Bellingham will play against Valencia on Saturday. The English international is injured, but he’s pushing himself to feature against Los Che. Bellingham is the top scorer of La Liga and he’s a crucial player for Ancelotti’s team. If he can’t play, most likely Madrid will start with Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz in the attack.
Luka Modric could receive a chance to start after his winning goal against Sevilla. His role in the team is reduced this season because of his age, but he remains a solid player for Los Blancos. If Modric doesn’t start then Kroos, Tchouameni and Valverde will have to start once again in the middle of the pitch.
