Belgian club KRC Genk are so proud of their Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu that they have even gone on to celebrate him to be as deadly as Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, who is widely tipped to win the FIFA Best Player Award for the outgoing year.
Onuachu is leading scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with 12 goals.
‘Paul Onuachu top scorer in Europe along with Robert Lewandowski’, Genk celebrated on their official website while justifying their claim with the goal stats of players in the top 16 leagues in Europe.
“Paul Onuachu is doing as well as … Robert Lewandowski for now, Lewandowski the goal machine from Bayern Munich,” the high-riding Genk bragged.
“Agreed, the Polish striker only needed eight league games for that. But still: nobody in Europe currently has more goals than our Paul.
“Not Messi, not Cristiano, not Haaland, not Lukaku, not Suárez, not Immobile, not Mbappé.
“It may be temporary, but you never know who will be ahead of Onuachu at the end of the season.”
Onuachu’s goals have also meant Genk have now chalked up six-game winning streak in the league, scoring 15 goals in their last five games in the process.
