Super Eagles midfielder Kingsley Michael will be out of action for at least six weeks after he broke his fibula in action for Italian club Bologna.
Michael was stretchered off in the second half in a Serie A clash against Udinese, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
He will now miss at least five league games against the likes of AC Milan, Napoli, Cagliari, Sampdoria and Venezia.
It would be recalled that another injury had ruled out the 22-year-old midfielder from the Super Eagles World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic earlier this month.
Kingsley Michael said the surgery was successful and said he is looking forward to bounce back soon.
“X-ray showed I broke a bit of my Fibula, but thank God it was a successful surgery,” he announced on Instagram.
“The support I have been getting from everyone just made everything easy, thank you guys, now looking forward to be back soon and also wishing all my teammates the best in the adventure ahead.
“It has been tough for me in the last two years of my career with injury upon injuries, but what do I have to say or do rather than to believe in God’s timing because when am on the pitch, I always make a difference.”
