Alex Iwobi has got something special and he is now playing his best football in his natural position, according to his uncle and former Super Eagles star Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
The legendary Okocha was at Goodison Park to see his nephew score his first Premier League goal of the season for Everton against Manchester United at the weekend.
Iwobi dedicated his wonder strike to his uncle.
“Iwobi has got something special, but unfortunately it took him a while to settle down and he’s now playing under a manager who’ playing him in his right position,” Okocha said.
“I was surprised he played right wing back because it was affecting his personal performances and goals, but I am glad that finally he’s playing in his natural position and Everton are enjoying the best of him.
“He’s a team player, unselfish and what Everton need now.
“I have always told him he is too honest a player, that he is willing to sacrifice for the team.
“He is down to earth and you’re guaranteed he will give 100% at any given time. He gives that every time.
“(scoring goals) is the bit that is missing, but as long as he keeps providing for the other players that’s good as well.”
Iwobi is also a key player for the Super Eagles and ‘Jay Jay’ is equally impressed.
“He has taken on the baton (from me) and he is running with it, he has imposed himself on the team and the future is bright,” he remarked.
