The planned reform of Nigerian football will cause a massive re-organisation of the NFF secretariat, several top officials have told SCORENigeria
The sudden resignation of the NFF executive committee led by president Ibrahim Gisau and the general secretary Mohammed Sanusi has meant that the bulk of the staff members of the football federation will soon be on their way out.
It was gathered that these staff members were hired on contract basis by the past administration to bypass the stringent recruitment through the civil service.
These contracted staff members are more than double the number of the civil servants, who have permanent employments.
A source told SCORENigeria: “The contracts of some of these staff members have already ended, while some others’ will be up this month and some others later this year.
“Their benefactors did not have the time to give them new contracts and so they will have to go.”
It was also gathered that some of the senior management staff members who were promoted on account of the departure of Mohammed Sanusi are due to retire soon, while one prominent senior official is already retired and has only been “hanging around” with the hope that the past administration will hand him a contract.
