In what can only pass for a miracle, all Flying Eagles players registered for the U20 AFCON qualifiers WAFU B in Benin have tested negative for Coronavirus after a fresh round of tests.
This result comes after wingers Chisom Orji and Olawale Farayola were earlier this week reported to have tested positive for Covid-19.
Orji was dropped from the all-important Group B match against arch-rivals Ghana as a result of this result and he and Farayola were immediately quarantined.
Flying Eagles spokesman Andrew Randa announced that both players and officials turned in negative results from the fresh tests they insisted on.
Some officials have maintained there is a gang-up against Nigeria at the U20 AFCON in Benin and the “false positive“ result for Orji and Farayola was one of the ploys to stop the Flying Eagles from progressing in the tournament.
Nigeria will be counting on Ghana to do them a big favour this afternoon by beating Cote d’Ivoire 2-0 in a final Group B match for them to sneak through to the semifinal of the competition even after they drew one and lost another.
Burkina Faso and Niger have already booked their places in the last four ahead of hosts Benin and Togo.
