Even at just 26, Imoh Ezekiel has been past his peak for many years, according to report in the Belgian media.
The former Standard Liege star was Tuesday released by another Belgian club KV Kortrijk after he no longer fitted into their plans.
“Ezekiel is still only 26 years old, but the peak of his career has been behind him for quite some time,” said an analysis after his contract was terminated by mutual consent after he spent most of this season with the Kortrijk second team.
He wore the Kortrijk shirt 39 times since his arrival in 2018.
As a teenager he broke through at Standard Liege and showed fantastic things.
His speed was a great weapon and he added goals to that. In short, he was very useful in a two-striker system.
It was therefore striking that as a 20-year-old he chose a lucrative adventure in Qatar.
However, he soon returned to Standard on loan and the following season Imoh Ezekiel moved to Anderlecht, where he failed to hit the mark.
Time in Spain and Turkey were equally uneventful before a return to Belgium two years ago.
