The Referees committee has announced that KV Kortrijk striker Imoh Ezekiel ought to have been sent off for a dangerous tackle against Club Brugge.
The referee only showed Ezekiel a yellow when he went very hard on Federico Ricca of Club Brugge.
The referees committee stated: “The referee reacted too quickly by showing the yellow card. We expect a red card for an error like this, but no VAR intervention.
“The referee’s decision to judge the error as reckless and therefore not excessive, cannot be seen as a clear and obvious error.”
Ezekiel was later replaced by compatriot Terem Moffi, who went on to score the much-needed equaliser for home team Kortrijk to hold league leaders Club Brugge to a 2-2 draw.
