‘Senior man’ Kelechi Iheanacho is pushing to start for the Super Eagles in Thursday’s AFCON showdown against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.
The Leicester City striker is on top form and did not show any side effects of the muscular injury that made him a major injury doubt for the AFCON.
“Kelechi is in top form, he looked sharp in his first training,” a source informed SCORENigeria
“He scores goals and also creates for others to score.
“It will be difficult to leave him out of the team.”
He is designated as one of four strikers on the final squad, but his ball handling technique also allows him to play comfortably as an attacking midfielder.
Coach Jose Peseiro is expected to ring changes to the starting XI from the 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea as the Super Eagles battle to stay alive in the tournament.
