Various reports have suggested that had Manchester United not signed Odion Ighalo on loan till the end of the season, he could well have joined Inter Milan or Tottenham Hotspur.
It was also reported that another Premier League club, Aston Villa, were offered the player but they passed.
Manager Neil Warnock also revealed that he also tried to sign Ighalo at Cardiff City.
Ighalo, 30, has been brought in at Old Trafford as a stop-gap following the long-term injury of Marcus Rashford.
His Premier League experience – 16 goals in 55 appearances for Watford – is expected to ensure he adjusts to life back in the English top flight in no time.
