The influential Human Rights Radio in Abuja has beamed its searchlight on the corruption in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), which has now caused a slump in the fortunes of the country’s teams internationally.
The radio station, 101.1 FM, started the expose Monday and has promised to reach out to relevant critical stakeholders in this matter including the Presidency, EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu as well as CAF and FIFA presidents in a bold effort to unearth the rut in Nigeria football.
NANF president Harrison Jalla, former Super Eagles coach James Peters, NFF director Tunde Aderibigbe and former international Emmanuel Babayaro have presented damning evidence of corruption by the leadership of the NFF in the past five years.
“The corruption in the NFF is mind boggling, a charade which must be stopped if football is to develop in this country,” said Aderibigbe on ‘Brekete Family’, the flagship programme of the radio station.
“This is everybody’s fight because Nigeria football if well managed could be a big employer of labour as is the case around the world,” said Babayaro.
The expose will run all through this week on the Human Rights Radio with ‘Ordinary President’ Ahmed Isah vowing to get to the bottom of the corruption that has overtaken the national sport.
Senior NFF officials led by president Amaju Pinnick are being investigated by both anti-corruption agencies, the EFCC and the ICPC.
