Reports said Paul Onuachu was also a major transfer target of Turkish giants Galatasaray before Genk swooped on the big striker.
Former Turkey international Hasan Sas was the Galatasaray scout in 2019 and he was impressed with what he saw of the Super Eagles striker then in Denmark.
According to media reports, Sas would go on to recommend that Galatasaray buy Onuachu for five million Euros.
Genk will go on to beat ‘Gala’ to the signature of ‘Big Paul’ when they paid six million Euros to FC Midtjylland.
This season, the striker has fired 29 goals and now the Belgian club wish to cash in on these goals with a lucrative transfer outside Belgium.
A price tag of 25 million Euros has been mentioned.
French Ligue 1 side Lyon have been the first top club to be linked to the giant striker.
