SCORENigeria can now report the inside story to how Serie A club Sassuolo missed out at the last minute to sign one-time Super Eagles invitee Anthony Dennis.
A source familiar with this transfer revealed to SCORENigeria that it was a hectic few days before Goztepe midfielder Dennis finally signed for Al Jazira in UAE.
It was learnt that the choices for the player were Sassuolo and Al Jazira and while the UAE came close to the eight million euros valuation of Dennis by his Turkish club, the Serie A club were still foot dragging on improving the lowly offer they tabled.
“Just when Dennis agreed to move to UAE, the Italians came back with an improved offer,” the source recounted.
“They were a few hours late, while Al Jazira raced through getting the boy into Dubai and that was how Sassuolo missed out on signing him.”
Dennis has signed a three-year contract with Al Jazira.
