Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement has given up on David Okereke setting the Belgian league on fire in the new season, according to media reports.
Okereke was one of the Belgian champions leading scorers in the league last season with nine goals, but he has since hit a rough patch after a bright start following an eight million dollars switch from Spezia of Italy.
Club Brugge at the weekend failed to complete a league and cup double after they lost to Antwerp in the Belgium Cup Final and part of the blame was that the attack led by Okereke failed to fire.
Het Laaste Niuews reported that Okereke has not received enough confidence for his coach even though he enjoyed a decent run in the team last season.
New signing Youssouph Badji has impressed in pre-season and even replaced the misfiring Okereke in the Cup Final.
Club Brugge also have the cash to get another striker and so have continued to be linked several such players.
