The 28-year-old Super Eagles forward scored a goal and provided an assist for Atletico to trounce home team Real Betis to qualify for the semifinal of the Copa del Rey Thursday night.
“I am very happy. Everyone has been great with me. It’s a dream start,” Ademola Lookman declared after his heroics.
“That happiness makes me want to work hard and perform for this amazing club.”
Atletico coach Diego Simeone said Ademola Lookman will make the team better.
“Ademola Lookman? He’s a grown man, he’s 28 years old. He came to help us and we hope to help him too so he can keep growing,” he remarked.
“He has qualities that are different from the players we already have, and that will make us better.”
‘Mola’ assisted Antoine Greizmann for Atleti’s fourth goal on the night and the France international said they have warmly welcomed the new signings like Ademola Lookman for them to do well as they did.
“Ademola Lookman? We’re a team, a dressing room, a club and a fan base that make things very easy. Everyone who arrives is welcomed from the very first second. Let’s enjoy the newcomers and let them give us joy like tonight,” he said.
