German club Hannover ’96 have celebrated the signing of Ime Okon.
The Bafana Bafana defender born of Nigerian parents has signed a contract with the Bundesliga 2 side until 2029.
He signed as a free agent after his contract with South African PSL side SuperSport United ran out.
Hannover CEO Markus Mann said Ime Okon, 21, will be a valuable addition to the team.
“Ime is a player with exciting talent and very good physical attributes,” he remarked.
“Christian Titz (head coach) and André Kilian (assistant) have been observing his development for some time.
“We then collected data on him during scouting and evaluated his athletic profile, which is exceptional.
“It’s quite clear that he will need time to adapt, but he’s extremely willing to learn, so we definitely see the potential in him to develop really well.”
