A fantastic free kick goal by defender Myriam Nyadjou that beat goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on 19 minutes is the difference between the two teams.
It was against the run of play because as early as the first minute, Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade had tested the Cameroon goalkeeper with a rasping shot from outside the box.
And after Cameroon took the lead, Gift Monday, picked ahead of the veteran Asisat Oshoala, was denied by the brilliant Benfica goalkeeper Michaely.
Eight minutes later, the Cameroon shot stopper also kept out an effort by PSG midfielder Jennifer Echegini.
Uchenna Kanu, scorer of two goals thus far, was brought in after 38 minutes in place of winger Rinsola Babajide to add more power and speed to the Nigerian attack.
The Super Falcons will have to be more clinical in front going into the second half as well as stand up to be robust-playing Cameroonians, whose physical approach to the game has been encouraged by the referee.
