Nigeria are leading Sierra Leone 4-1 by halftime in an AFCON qualifier being played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
As Eagles coach Gernot Rohr had hoped, the home raced ahead after just five minutes through Alex Iwobi.
Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s advantage on 22 minutes for his fourth goal in the qualifiers.
Iwobi then completed his brace in the 31st minute, before Samuel Iwobi fired the Eagles fourth goal of the day on 31 minutes.
However, US-based striker Kei Kamara pulled a goal for the visitors two minutes from the interval when he went clear of the Eagles before he shot beyond goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.
Sierra Leone were encouraged by this consolation goal and staged a late rally but could not change the scoreline of 4-1 going into the dressing room.
