The Super Eagles lead Benin 2-0 at halftime of this final Group C 2026 World Cup qualifier in Uyo.
As expected, Victor Osimhen is the scorer of the two goals for Nigeria with an unplayable Samuel Chukwueze providing the assists for both strikes.
Nigeria got off to a dream start after just three minutes, when Chukwueze threaded a superb through ball for Osimhen to finish off.
The Galatasaray striker doubled the Eagles advantage in the 37th minute, when he powered home a header off Chukwueze’s cross beyond the Benin goalkeeper.
Benin had their chances from the right side in the first half, but they failed to make the most of them.
However, the Super Eagles will need to score more goals after the break to improve their chances to at least reach the Playoffs next month in Morocco.
South Africa are looking like winning the automatic qualification ticket as they lead Rwanda at home 2-0.
They have 18 points and if Nigeria beat Benin, Bafana Bafana will be flying to next year’s Mundial.
