The Golden Eaglets are facing another major disappointment at the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifiers in Cote d’Ivoire as they are trailing 2-0 to arch-rivals Ghana by half time.
The Nigerians pressed for an early lead, but it was the Black Starlets who eventually opened scoring in the 22nd minute when they breached the Golden Eaglets defence.
Again, poor defending was to blame for the second goal on 31 minutes as the attack of Ghana sliced through like hot knife through butter.
Nigeria chased the game thereafter, but in the closing moments of this half, Ghana ought to have got a third goal but their striker narrowly missed the mark with the Eaglets defence completely beaten.
The Eaglets have their work cut out for them after the interval if they hope to turn the table and reach the sub-regional final that will guarantee them a ticket to next year’s U17 AFCON.
