Sudan lead the CHAN Eagles by the halfway mark of this 2024 CHAN Group D match in Zanzibar.
Nigeria first fell behind in the 25th minute, when Leonard Ngenge scored an own goal, just moments after the CHAN Eagles thought they had taken the lead through striker Ijoma Anthony.
Anthony raced through on goal from a swift counter attack only for VAR to chalk off the effort for offside.
Sudan doubled their advantage in the 42nd minute, when Ikorodu City young defender Ngenge handled the ball inside the box and Sudan converted the ensuing penalty.
Striker Sikiru Alimi had two chances to pull a goal back for Nigeria.
His diving header crashed against the side netting on 39 minutes and in first half stoppage time, he shot wide off target from deep inside the box.
The CHAN Eagles will hope for some luck in the second half as they now have to chase the game.
