The Golden Eaglets will be without a least three starters for tonight’s WAFU B U17 AFCON semifinal against the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire due to injury.
Star central defender Boluwatife Ekishola was the first major injury problem for the Golden Eaglets when he could not continue the game against Niger.
His place has since been taken up by defensive midfielder John Ogwuche and did not look out of place in a 3-0 win over Togo in a final group game.
Leftback Daniel Mendie is the latest injury concern for the team after he was forced out by a knee injury against Togo.
It is now likely that left winger Muhammad Imrana will continue in his place for tonight’s semifinal.
The case of one of the brightest prospects of the team Ibrahim Abdulganiyu has yet to be resolved.
He has been listed as injured on the official match form against Niger and Togo after a dispute over his ownership broke on social media.
This exciting winger, who was double marked by Burkina Faso in an opening Group B clash, may well be frozen out of this tournament due to the controversies surrounding him.
