For Wednesday’s final Group B match in the U17 AFCON qualifiers in Ghana against Togo, coach Manu Garba will be forced to make changes to the Golden Eaglets defence after injury to Boluwatife Ekishola and the dismissal of his replacement Okorie Chibuike robbed the team of a central defender.
Injury forced the team’s main central defender Ekishola out of Sunday’s game against Niger as early as the 11th minute.
His replacement Chibuike did well when he came on only for him to be sent off for a professional foul on the hour.
Manu may now have to convert impressive defensive midfielder Destiny Samuel to play alongside Abdulwaris Yunus in the heart of the back-four.
Nigeria need to beat Togo to ensure qualification to the semifinal of this qualifying tournament.
Both Burkina Faso and the Golden Eaglets have recorded four points from two matches with the Junior Etalons ahead on better goals difference.
Niger are third on three points, while Togo, who are yet to win a point, have already been eliminated having lost their first two games.
