Captain Precious Williams has insisted the Golden Eaglets are not the favourites to win the U17 AFCON in Algeria despite the country’s impressive record at this level.
“Every nation in our group we respect them, We are here to develop and expose ourselves so we can’t say we’re the favourites in our group because we are yet to play,” said the HB Academy striker, who led the team to win the WAFU qualifiers in Ghana last year.
“We will play according to our coaches’ instructions, play as a team, attack as a team and defend as a team so in the end we will put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
The Golden Eaglets will today begin their U17 AFCON campaign against Zambia in Constantine.
Kick-off time is 5pm and the game will be beamed live by SuperSport TV.
South Africa and Morocco are the other teams in their group.
