The Golden Eaglets were today held to a scoreless draw by Abuja-based Mopster Academy in a final test game ahead of the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifying tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
It was a gritty display by Mopster, who fell 1-0 in a previous clash with the national U17s.
Tried as the coach Manu Garba-led Eaglets did, they could not break the very determined defence of their opponents on the rather patchy pitch of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
They will need to step up their game to compete with the best teams in the sub-region after they failed to qualify for the U17 AFCON two years ago in Ghana.
The Golden Eaglets are due to leave for Abidjan this week for the U17 AFCON qualifiers.
They are against Benin and Burkina Faso in the first round with only the finalists to advance to the U17 AFCON.
