The Golden Eaglets have continued with their training in Abuja with a 1-1 draw with Monaco Academy amid rumours that next month’s U17 AFCON qualifiers in Benin will still go ahead despite FIFA canceling the 2021 U17 World Cup.
The Eaglets are due to play another build-up game today against Future of Africa from Kaduna.
Team officials told SCORENigeria they have not received an official communication to break camp even after FIFA announced that the 2021 World Cup will no longer be staged due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The cancellation of the U17 World Cup was effectively expected to mean the U17 AFCON qualifiers and the tournament proper will be of no use they serve as the build-up to the World Cup.
However, reports quoting unnamed CAF sources that both the U17 and U20 AFCONs will be played notwithstanding the cancellation of the World Cup.
